During the event, local Top Chef finalist, Evelyn Garcia, will “takeover” the Lake House to serve a special, one-time only menu commemorating the night. The menu will include Torta de Carnitas, Elote, Tostada with braised Brisket and Rice Pudding. Garcia’s dishes are fusion of cultures with inspiration from Asia and Latin America.

More than 65 performers create a magical night with gorgeous costumes, music and culture. A completely revamped performance provides the perfect opportunity to make new memories at this popular yearly event with thousands in attendance.  The new Mexican Consul General, Maria Elena Orantes Lopez, will lead a reenactment of El Grito, which commemorates Mexican Independence Day.  

The tour is organized by the North American Institute for Mexican Advancement and supported by Univision. The performance combines music and dancing to highlight the benefits Mexican culture has had on communities all around the United States. Houston is the last stop on the tour.

Discovery Green will have a screen set up on the Jones Lawn to allow for additional viewing areas. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for their comfort.

Elote: Queso fresco, red curry aioli, pickled red onion, cilantro, garlic chili oil
Tostada: Braised brisket, five spice BBQ, herb slaw, turmeric aioli, radish
Rice Pudding: Ube foam, sweet red bean, toasted coconut, black sesame
