The Chapelwood Foundation held its biannual luncheon to honor 40 local college students who are receiving scholarships. Pictured (from left) are Dr. Zachary R. Hodges, president of HCC-Spring Branch, scholarship recipient Hunter Clay, foundation executive director Teresa Cannon and SBISD superintendent Dr. Scott Muri. The majority of the recipients attended SBISD schools and entered the program via the Chapelwood United Methodist Church-sponsored Collegiate Challenge program at Northbrook High School. The students receive money each semester throughout their college career if they maintain a 2.5 GPA and engage in community service. Clay, from Stratford High School, is pursuing a degree in accounting at Blinn, and Elizabeth Torres Santiago is a former SBISD Northbrook graduate and Collegiate Challenge member currently attending the University of Houston and majoring in hotel management.
