John Barzilla and Tressa Roque

John Barzilla and Tressa Roque had a spontaneous wedding at Post Oak Little League's state championship game, while cheering on their son, Anthony, and his team.

Tressa Roque and John Barzilla had been engaged to get re-married since December. The date was set for late July in the Florida Keys. But life kept getting in the way, including Tressa’s father spending time in the hospital and their son, Anthony, advancing in baseball season.

Post Oak Little League made it to the state finals and parents Tressa and John cheered on the team during the championship game in Tyler, Texas. Then, several parents turned to them and said, confused, “Aren’t you supposed to be getting married?”

The answer was yes - that very weekend, actually.

After a quick “team huddle,” they decided to celebrate at the championship game in a special way: with their wedding. Post Oak Little League coach Chris Spears, who’s actually an ordained minister, agreed to officiate right then and there. Tressa’s maid of honor was Sarah Crawmer.

Everyone wore Post Oak Little League spirit shirts, shorts and flip flops.

Tressa said it was “awesome” to have the wedding right there in front of all their friends. Needless to say, Anthony, who’s a fifth grader at St. Michael’s Catholic School, was thrilled. It was a home run for everyone.

The newlyweds plan to honeymoon in Bimini. (And hope for another championship game next year). Grand slam.
