The Memorial High School Freshman Class of 2018 is collecting old treasures for its big February 2015 fundraiser to benefit the senior-prom fund. The two women in charge of this massive undertaking of collecting, sorting, selling and cleanup are Jill Watson and Shelly Canada. Jill Watson is one of five women who’ve recently received a 2015 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Trailblazer Award, and Shelly Canada has a successful dental practice in the Spring Branch/Memorial area. Student volunteers from Memorial help parent volunteers collect, sort and pack the trucks, and they work the Saturday sale days in February, earning valuable volunteer hours for graduation credit. Collections for the MHS Garage Sale are taken at the Memorial High School field house parking lot on Gaylord Street on Saturdays 10 a.m.-noon Jan. 10, 17, 31 and Feb. 7. The garage sale will be held at 10301 Katy Freeway. The preview party has a $15 entrance fee, Feb.18, 7-9 p.m. Regular sale days are free to the public and are on Feb. 20, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., and Feb. 21, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Pictured (from left) are Watson, Canada and Tracy Sarver.
